  16. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth:

Lady Macbeth starts sleep walking and during these periods she talks about how guilty she feels. She talks about a "spot" on her hands that she can't wash out, presumably being the blood of the people her and Macbeth have had killed (5.1.37). Macbeth, in preparation for battle puts on his armor and weapons (5.3.59). As Macbeth is about to lead his forces into battle, he hears cries from the women and Seyton announces that Lady Macbeth is dead (5.5.19). A messenger then tells Macbeth that trees a brush were beginning to move towards Dunsinane (5.5.41-43) which Macbeth interprets as "Fear not till Birnam Wood do come to Dunsinane (5.5.50-51)," as foretold by the witches and makes ready his army (5.6.58). The battle begins and Siward's son challenges Macbeth, who Macbeth easily slays (5.7.14). Macduff than fights Macbeth and kills him and Macbeth's army retreats (5.8.39).

    Warriors

Malcolm and his army mobilize towards Dunsinane, with the soldiers carrying branches with them in order to make their numbers look smaller (5.4.8-9). Malcolm then commands his army to uncloak themselves when they get close enough, bearing drums and their colors (5.6.1). Young Siward then fights Macbeth and is slain (5.7.14). Malcolm and Macduff's forces push through into Macbeth's castle (5.8.36) and Macduff duels Macbeth. 17. The Macbeths
Lady Macbeth is beginning to show signs of regret after all of the murders she has helped commit. She has begun to talk about everything her and Macbeth have done and how they have tried to cover up their murders(5.1.65-67). Lady Macbeth would also wash her hands and cry out "All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand."(5.1.53-55). Macbeth, however, is beginning to fear nothing. He is becoming more vicious and is realizing that in order to win this battle he has with himself and with the world he mustn't be scared(5.3.10-11). Macbeth is, in addition to ready to fight, ready to die(5.3.26). Lady Macbeth couldn't take the madness and shortly after dies (5.5.19). Macbeth has now completely changed his sympathy towards his victims for he says "Here let them lie till famine and the ague eat them up."(5.5.3-4) Its as if Macbeth has switched roles with Lady Macbeth. Earlier in the play, Macbeth was sympathetic, anxious, fearful, and jumpy about his deeds and now it seems as if that has all left him. Lady Macbeth is now more anxious and jumpy about murder shown by her sleep talking. Macbeth, however, is slain by Macduff as a cruel, "heartless" man(5.8).

    Warriors
All warriors are after Macbeth with revenge(5.2.3), mostly Malcolm and Macduff. The warriors really want Macbeth to feel what he has done is terribly wrong(5.2.19-20).Macduff leads the warriors, including Malcolm, to Macbeth because he is the worthiest and strongest of all(5.6.4-5). Macduff faces Macbeth to kill him(5.7.20-21). This is because he thinks that Malcolm truly deserves the thrown and because Macbeth killed his whole family. Macduff is fed up with all of Macbeth's lies and is finally action on this sense of revenge. Macduff kills Macbeth(5.8) and brings out his head to show all of the warriors. Men died in the battle including Siward's son(5.8.44). In the end, Malcolm was crowned king of Scotland(5.8.71) for the benefit of Scotland.

Seyton comes in to tell Macbeth that Lady Macbeth has died and Macbeth said that she should have died later (V.v.19-20).
